Lasagna (recipe)

Lasagna is a traditional Italian dish that has become popular worldwide. The layered combination of pasta, meat, cheese, and rich sauce makes this dish irresistible. Here's how you can make delicious lasagna at home.

Ingredients:

  • 12 lasagna sheets
  • 500 g ground beef or pork
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 800 g tomato sauce
  • 200 g shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 100 g grated Parmesan cheese
  • 50 g butter
  • 50 g flour
  • 500 ml milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Preparation:

  1. Cook the lasagna sheets in a large pot according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a pan, heat some oil and sauté the finely chopped onion and garlic until translucent. Add the ground meat and cook until browned.
  3. Add the tomato sauce, salt, and pepper to taste. Simmer over medium heat for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. In another pot, melt the butter, add the flour, and cook, stirring constantly until golden. Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly, until you get a smooth béchamel sauce. Season with salt to taste.
  5. In a baking dish, layer the lasagna: start with a bit of béchamel sauce at the bottom, then a layer of pasta, meat sauce, béchamel, and shredded mozzarella. Repeat the process until you use all the ingredients, finishing with a layer of béchamel and grated Parmesan on top.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 30-35 minutes until the lasagna is golden brown on top.
  7. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
