
Burek with Meat (recipe)
Burek with meat is one of the most famous dishes in the Balkans. This pastry with juicy meat filling and crispy crust is a favorite among many. Here's how you can make burek with meat at home.Ingredients:
- 500 g thin phyllo dough
- 400 g ground meat (beef or pork)
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 50 ml oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 100 ml sparkling water
Preparation:
- In a pan, heat the oil and sauté the finely chopped onion until translucent. Add the ground meat and cook until it turns golden brown. Add the minced garlic, salt, and pepper to taste.
- Place one sheet of phyllo dough on the work surface, brush it with oil, and fold it in half. Place a small amount of meat filling on one end of the dough and roll it up. Repeat the process with the remaining dough and filling.
- Arrange the rolled dough in a greased baking pan, forming a spiral shape.
- Brush the burek with sparkling water and the remaining oil.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for about 30-35 minutes until the burek is golden brown.
- Let the burek cool slightly before cutting and serving.
