Fërgesë (recipe)

Fërgesë is a traditional Albanian dish made from peppers, tomatoes, and cheese, baked to a golden crust. It has a rich flavor and aroma, perfect for a cozy dinner.

Ingredients:

  • 500 g red and green peppers
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 200 g fresh cheese or feta
  • 2 onions
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs for garnish

Preparation:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  2. Dice the peppers and tomatoes, finely chop the onion and garlic.
  3. In a pan, heat the olive oil and sauté the onion and garlic until soft.
  4. Add the diced peppers and tomatoes, cook over medium heat for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and add the fresh cheese or feta, stir well.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a ceramic baking dish and bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs.
