Žganci (recipe)

Žganci is a traditional Slovenian dish made from buckwheat or cornmeal, served with sour cream and cracklings. Simple and hearty, popular in rural areas.

Ingredients:

  • 500 g buckwheat or cornmeal
  • 1 l water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 200 g cracklings
  • 200 ml sour cream

Preparation:

  1. Bring water to a boil and add salt.
  2. Gradually add the flour, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
  3. Cook on low heat until the mixture thickens and starts to pull away from the sides of the pot.
  4. Place the žganci in a bowl and drizzle with cracklings and sour cream.

Serve hot and enjoy the traditional taste.
