
Brodet (recipe)
Brodet is a traditional Croatian seafood stew that combines various types of fish and seafood in an aromatic tomato sauce. This dish is often served with polenta or bread.Ingredients:
- 1 kg fish (pike, sea bass, monkfish)
- 500 g seafood (shrimp, mussels, crabs)
- 2 onions
- 4 garlic cloves
- 500 g tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 200 ml white wine
- 100 ml olive oil
- 1 lemon
- Salt, pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs (parsley, basil)
- Polenta or bread for serving
Preparation:
- Clean the fish and cut into pieces. Clean and rinse the seafood.
- Finely chop the onion and garlic. Blanch the tomatoes, peel them, and chop into cubes.
- In a large pot, heat the olive oil and sauté the onion and garlic until soft.
- Add the tomatoes and tomato paste, simmer for 5-7 minutes.
- Pour in the white wine, bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add the fish and seafood, season with salt and pepper. Simmer over medium heat for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the lemon juice and chopped herbs, simmer for another 5 minutes.
- Serve hot with polenta or fresh bread.
