Homemade Sushi Rolls (recipe)

Sushi rolls are a popular Japanese dish that can easily be made at home. It is important to prepare the rice correctly and use fresh ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • 300 g sushi rice
  • 400 ml water
  • 5 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Nori sheets
  • Salmon or tuna fillet
  • Cucumber
  • Avocado
  • Soy sauce, pickled ginger, wasabi

Preparation:

  1. Rinse the rice in cold water until the water is clear. Place the rice in a pot, add water, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cook covered for 15 minutes. Leave for 10 minutes without removing the lid.
  2. Transfer the rice to a bowl, add vinegar, sugar, and salt, and gently mix. Allow the rice to cool to room temperature.
  3. Prepare the filling: cut the fish, cucumber, and avocado into thin strips.
  4. Place a sheet of nori on a sushi mat, shiny side down. Spread rice evenly over the nori, leaving a 1-2 cm border. Place the filling on the rice.
  5. Carefully roll up the sushi, using the mat to help shape it. Slice into pieces with a sharp knife.
  6. Serve the rolls with soy sauce, pickled ginger, and wasabi.
