
Cicvara (recipe)
Cicvara is a traditional Serbian dish made from cornmeal, cheese, and cream. It has a creamy consistency and rich flavor, often served hot.Ingredients:
- 250 g cornmeal
- 500 ml milk
- 100 g butter
- 200 g cheese (feta or other soft cheese)
- 200 ml heavy cream
- Salt to taste
Preparation:
- In a large pot, bring the milk to a boil. Gradually add the cornmeal, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
- Reduce heat and continue to cook the mixture, stirring, until thickened. This will take about 10-15 minutes.
- Add butter and stir thoroughly until fully melted.
- Add crumbled cheese and cream, continue to cook over low heat until the cheese melts and the mixture is homogeneous.
- Add salt to taste, if necessary.
- Serve hot, garnished with an additional portion of cheese or cream on top.
