Roasted chestnuts are a traditional winter treat in many European countries, including France, Italy, and Spain. The chestnuts are roasted over an open fire or in an oven, and served hot, often with a light sprinkling of salt.

Ingredients:

  • 500 g fresh chestnuts
  • Salt to taste

Preparation:

  1. Wash the chestnuts and make a cross-cut on each chestnut to prevent them from bursting during roasting.
  2. Place the chestnuts on a baking sheet and roast in a preheated oven at 200°C for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Remove the chestnuts from the oven and let them cool slightly. Peel off the shell and inner skin.
  4. Serve hot, lightly salted to taste.
